The Camarillo Noontime Optimist Club recently awarded scholarships to three high school graduates during a club meeting in Camarillo. The teens include, above, Nayeli Rojas, at left, from Rio Mesa High School and Adriana Morales from Frontier High School.

Nayeli, a member of the RMHS’ dance club, served in a number of charities and service organizations during her high school career. She will attend Ventura College in the fall.

Adriana, who volunteers weekly at the Food Pantry in Camarillo, served as student body president at Frontier High and was named Top Scholar of her graduating class. She will attend Ventura College.

Also given a scholarship was Adolfo Camarillo High School graduate Rylann Smith, at right. She participated in cross country and track and field throughout high school and was a member of the honor roll and the California Scholarship Federation. Rylann also received a first-place award in the National Arts Program in Ventura County and multiple first-, second- and third-place awards at the Ventura County Fair. She will attend CSU Channel Islands to pursue an art degree.
