20th Annual Art Show delights with work from talented students

The 20th Annual Art Show at the Maritime Museum was a great success this year with 51 students participating in the event from all 7 of our high schools. The art work has been on exhibit this entire month, and the reception was held on Thursday, April 28, where the winners were announced and ribbons were given.

Jacquelyn Cavish, Curator of Art for the Ventura County Maritime Museum, announced
the winners as follows:

Category I: Photography and Digital Media

  • 1st Place: Kristin Diep, “Fallen,” Oxnard
  • 2nd Place: Alexis Doctor, “The Vision,” Channel Islands
  • 3rd Place: Amairany Alvarado, “Big Eyes,” Oxnard

Category I: Drawing/Painting/Printmaking/Sculpture

  • 1st Place: Iris Jang, “About the Influence,” Camarillo
  • 2nd Place: Melissa Tran, “Alfred,” Camarillo
  • 3rd Place: Terry Ha, “12 Faeries,” Camarillo

Judge’s Honorable Mention Awards

  • Shelby Tupac, “Byzantine Rose Icon,” Camarillo
  • Veronica Rockstam, “Have My Ribbon,” Pacifica
  • Janny Dang, “Loopy Loops,” Pacifica

People’s Choice Award

  • Terry Ha, “12 Faeries,” Camarillo
