IN THE SPOTLIGHT: New Teacher Breanna Cole - Agriculture and FFA aT Adolfo Camarillo High School

Adolfo Camarillo High School is proud to welcome Mrs. Breanna Cole as the newest Agriculture teacher and FFA advisor while highlighting the continued growth and success of the Agriculture and FFA pathway.

About the Instructor

Mrs. Cole graduated from Montana State University with a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Education. She brings four years of experience from Santa Paula High School, where she taught agriculture science courses and advised FFA. During her time there, she supported numerous students in earning their State FFA Degrees and guided students elected as regional and section officers. She helped lead her chapter to increased competitive success. Mrs. Cole has also earned her own American FFA Degree, the highest degree awarded by the National FFA Organization. She holds teaching credentials in both Montana and California and is excited to continue her work at Adolfo Camarillo High School.

FFA Leadership and Competition Success

This year, ACHS FFA students participated in the FFA Opening and Closing Ceremonies Contest, the first and most challenging competition of the FFA season. This event often serves as students’ first introduction to public speaking, teamwork, and leadership. Eighteen students from Camarillo High School represented the chapter, and their dedication paid off, with the chapter’s officer team earning a third-place overall finish. The chapter president was also recognized as Top Outstanding President, reflecting the strength of student leadership and preparation within the program.

Hands-On Learning in the Agriculture Pathway

In addition to competition success, students are gaining valuable real-world experience by managing the school’s breeding sheep flock on the on-campus farm. This year-long project allows students to experience every stage of livestock production, from breeding preparation to lambing and early-life care.

Students track breeding dates and record data to predict lambing timelines, observe animal behavior to understand reproductive cycles, and prepare clean, dry, and safe pens for lambing. They also complete essential flock-health practices, including vaccinations and tail docking, performed humanely and in accordance with industry standards.

Once lambs are born, students take an active role in monitoring nursing, ensuring lambs receive colostrum, evaluating ewe health, maintaining clean pens, and tracking growth. These responsibilities help students develop confidence, decision-making skills, and a strong understanding of animal welfare and livestock management.

Preparing Students for College and Career

The Agriculture and FFA pathway at Adolfo Camarillo High School provides authentic, hands-on learning experiences that connect classroom instruction to real-world application. Under Mrs. Cole’s leadership, students are building technical skills, leadership capacity, and responsibility, preparing them for future opportunities in agriculture, college, and career pathways.

Outside the classroom, Mrs. Cole enjoys spending time with her family, including her one-year-old identical twin daughters. She looks forward to continuing to grow the Agriculture and FFA program at ACHS.
