The District is requesting award to Tomar Construction, Inc. at the regularly scheduled board meeting on 10/26/22. 

The award to Tomar Construction, Inc. was approved. 

RFI's/Answers:

Question: The new roll up doors will require a steel structure to be fabricated to fasten the doors to. We need engineering and design. How do you want us to bid this? 

Answer: Contractor is responsible for Engineering & Design. An allowance of USD 10,000.00 (Ten Thousand US Dollars) shall be assigned for this purpose in the bid.

Question: The roll up door sizes what size are they?

Answer: The rough opening is approximately 19’ 6” wide and 12’ 3” high. The contractor is responsible for verifying it in field before ordering the doors.

Question: Are there fire sprinklers in this building we have to relocate?

Answer: No. There are no fire sprinklers to relocate.

Question: The existing doors looks like just a residential pre hung doors. I think you said reuse them?  

Answer: Correct. Re-use the restroom door and new standard pre-hung residential doors with locksets for the office & storage spaces.

Question: The restrooms new plan says drywall over metal studs. Scope written earlier says plywood. On the exterior of the new walls do you want plywood? What about on top of the ceiling, drywall on the inside but what do you want on top?

Answer: Level 4 finish drywall and painted on interior walls and ceiling in office and restroom spaces. Plywood on the exterior sides and the top to match existing. Plywood on interior storage room as well.

Question: Scope of work says to not make noise next to classrooms. The demo of the sheet metal can be noise they are through bolted on with rusty bolts we will have to cut with grinder or use a rivet buster to get them off it will be noise for several days. Is this building close enough to classrooms to be concerned?

Answer: There is enough separation between the bus barn and nearest classroom. Having said that, if demo triggers any complaints from the school staff or students, then those activities need to be performed before/after school hours.

Question: We are planning to bid the referenced project and have been in touch with PBS for pricing on the Tough Rib material that is called out for the siding and roofing. They are advising us that the Tough Rib material is nor recommended for a roof. Additionally they are saying that 29 gauge is not recommended.  I have included the PBS representatives information below in the hopes that someone can reach out to them and ensure they are able to quote the material for this project correctly.

Answer: For bidding purposes, the contractors shall price Tough Rib material for both siding and roofing. Should the manufacturer recommend a different product for roofing. It shall be addressed once the bid has been awarded.
