Response to COVID-19 Positive Case on Campus

Campus/Facility Precautions

Campus/ Facility StatusControlled access to all district campuses and facilities, by appointment/invitation only. Health screening and safety protocols required (masks, social distancing, etc.).
Personal Safety ProtocolVisual reminders for social distancing, masks, increased hand hygiene, no large gatherings, limited use of shared supplies.
OperationsFrequent cleaning of restrooms, handrails/door handles, common areas and other community spaces.

 

Campus/Facility Actions

Identification of Positive Case

Campus administration to Communicate directly with individuals / students (families) identified as “close contact”.

Campus administration communicates with the parent(s) of the student who is positive regarding self-isolation period.

Campus administration coordinates cleaning/ sanitizing of affected space(s).

Campus administration and/or a Campus COVID Team member communicates with families of other students identified as “close contact” to advise regarding possible self-isolation period.

Campus COVID Team provides guidance for all timelines, including return to in-person learning date.

Increasing # of Positive CasesPositive case counts will be monitored daily, tracked by campus/location. If two or more people within different cohorts on the same campus are COVID positive within 14 days,  District Human Resources will work with VCPH, to determine the need to close individual classrooms, school buildings, or campuses.
CommunicationPersons determined to have had close contact with a test confirmed COVID-19 individual will be personally contacted by campus administration. All staff and families will receive a general notice of a positive case on-site (electronic delivery)
Academic & Instructional ContinuityIn consultation with campus administration, In-Person learners will be transitioned to virtual learners during the required isolation period, as appropriate depending on health status.
Extra & Co-Curricular StatusExtra / co-curricular activities may be limited or suspended.
