Grand Opening of Community School Center at Channel Islands High School
Oxnard Union High School District is proud to announce the grand opening of the Community Schools Program at Channel Islands High School, celebrated last week with a community fair and ribbon-cutting ceremony. This initiative represents a significant step forward in our commitment to supporting students and families through integrated services that address academic, social, and health needs.

Funded by a $4.75 million grant from the California Community Schools Partnership Program (CCSPP), the Community Schools Program provides expanded support services at both Channel Islands and Hueneme High Schools. The program is designed to foster strong connections between schools, families, and community partners, ensuring students have access to resources that enhance learning, promote wellness, and support overall student success.
The Community School space at Channel Islands High School is open to all students and families in the district and broader community. Visitors can access a range of services, from guidance on immigration resources to a welcoming space for after-school programs and activities. The center is open until 6:30 PM, providing a safe and supportive environment for all who visit.

The district looks forward to the next Community Schools grand opening, scheduled for Hueneme High School’s Back to School Night on September 18, continuing our effort to bring these valuable resources to every campus.
