Trustee Sher was first elected to the Oxnard Union High School District Board of Trustees in 2014. She is a proud mother of three children - two graduates of Adolfo Camarillo and one currently attending Rancho Campana. She holds a Bachelor of Science, two Master’s degrees, and is currently a doctoral candidate in Organizational Leadership and Change at the University of Southern California. With over 30 years of experience as a public school teacher, she holds leadership roles with the CDE, UCSB’s South Coast Writing Project, Stanford University’s Instructional Leadership Corps, and the United States Library of Congress. Trustee Sher now serves as the California Department of Education’s Director of Teacher Recruitment and as a consultant to State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Tony Thurmond.

Linda Baker-Torres was elected to the board in 2022 after 40 years of service to the OUHSD as an interpreter for the deaf and hard of hearing at Rio Mesa High School. Linda takes great pride in the many roles she played at Rio Mesa: ParaEducator, wife to a Rio Mesa teacher and coach, and a mom of 3 Spartan graduates - two of whom became public school teachers! As a Trustee, Linda is eager to elevate the voices of and to support all stakeholders in the OUHSD community.

Mrs. Flores-Haro was elected to the Board in 2022. She is the daughter of longtime educators, an Oxnard High School graduate, and a former OUHSD ParaEducator. She is the Associate Director for the Mixteco/Indigena Community Organizing Project (MICOP), a nonprofit serving the indigenous migrant community in California’s Central Coast. A two-time California Woman of the Year, Mrs. Flores-Haro received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and her Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Southern California.

Elected to the board in 2020 Ms. Botello is an educator and administrator. She currently is the Principal at Rio Del Valle Middle School.  She was previously the ASB Director, Journalism Advisor and an English teacher at Oxnard High School.  

Raised in Southern California, Ms. Botello has taught in Orange, LA, and Ventura County.  She graduated with two bachelor’s degrees and her teaching credential from UC Irvine, a master’s degree in journalism from UC Berkeley, and a master’s degree in education with administrative credential from UCLA’s Principal Leadership Institute. Trustee Botello lives in Oxnard with her husband and daughter.

Dr. Mari Estrada was elected to the board in 2024. A Camarillo resident and mother of two Camarillo High School graduates, she brings over a decade of experience in higher education with a focus on workforce development, career pathways, and early childhood education. She holds a Ph.D. in Education from the University of California, Santa Barbara and remains closely engaged with K–12 education policy.

Dr. Estrada currently serves as Dean of Academic Affairs at the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office and teaches part-time at Fresno City College, where she emphasizes the importance of strong home–school–community partnerships. She is also focused on restorative interventions that support student behavior, keep students engaged in school, and help prepare them for future careers, higher education, and life.

She is committed to ensuring that teachers and staff are supported, recognizing their essential role in working directly with students every day, and to fostering strong partnerships with the district, institutions of higher education, local businesses, community organizations, and families to support student success and overall well-being.
