Rio Mesa High School students recognized at board meeting

Rio Mesa High School recognized four outstanding students at our board meeting: Vivia Troncoso, Sofie Stock, Kaitlyn Owens, and Ava Carbajal.

Vivia is a remarkable student whose dedication and involvement in various clubs truly set her apart. As the president of the Mock Trial team, she has taken on her role with enthusiasm and responsibility. She displays not only strong leadership but also a remarkable work ethic that inspires her peers. Her organizational skills and approachable demeanor make her a respected figure among her classmates. She has fostered positive relationships with both her peers and the staff on campus, further showcasing her ability to connect with others. She is an advocate for her education and continually seeks growth opportunities, embodying the spirit of a lifelong learner. Her dedication, leadership, and character will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact wherever she goes.

Sofie Stock is the kind of student athlete that coaches dream about having on their teams. She does everything a coach could ask for and then some. She is not only a strong competitor; she is also a key contributor to the team culture. She is always early to practice and helps with preparation, a great communicator and one of the hardest workers. She is a key piece to any success that my team has had this season, and she has been the best teammate. When the season began, she was injured and could not participate in practice or scrimmages. Yet, she was at every practice watching and being a part of the team. She is always willing to learn and has progressed, literally, every week in her abilities. She has only played volleyball for two high school seasons, but has become an incredibly integral part.

Kaitlyn is a kind-hearted and helpful student known for her vivacious personality, which brings joy to our classrooms. She is actively involved in cheerleading, Unified Sports, ASB, and art, demonstrating her passion for dance and school spirit. She is not only a talented participant in school activities; she is also a thoughtful and conscientious peer leader. Her positive attitude and motivation to excel inspire those around her. The support from her parents has played a crucial role in her growth and self-expression, making her the wonderful young person she is today.

Ava Carbajal shows tremendous leadership on our campus. In addition to the various clubs that she participates in, she was a Link Crew leader this year. She helped welcome ninth grade students and make sure that they knew the expectations at our school. She also helps to lead students during football games, she is in advanced dance, and was an all-star drama student last year. She has been a great asset to ASB; as a first-year participant she has already proven herself to be a leader in this class and takes her tasks seriously. She is friendly, welcoming, charismatic, and a team player. Ava has great drive and great school spirit, and you can see that she is proud to be a Spartan.
