Frontier Students Recognition

Frontier High School recognized three outstanding students at our board meeting: Adilene Avila, Alexa Lopez, Brayan Hernandez, and Lexie Jara.

Adilene Avila has experienced a remarkable transformation during her time at Frontier High School. After facing academic challenges and inconsistent attendance in her earlier high school years, Adi found a new sense of purpose and belonging at Frontier. She now attends school daily, participates in Saturday School, and stays after school twice a week to stay on top of her studies.

Adi’s presence on campus is felt by everyone. Known for her kindness, generosity, and positive spirit, she uplifts her peers and builds strong connections with staff across campus. From teachers and counselors to administrators and support staff, Adi makes everyone feel welcomed and appreciated.

In recognition of her growth and impact, Adi was invited by Mayor Pro Tem Gabe Teran to share her story at an Oxnard City Council meeting. Her determination and resilience continue to inspire all who know her.

Adi comes from a supportive family, including her parents—active leaders in FHS's ELAC and DELAC—her brother, and her beloved dog, Colby. Whether she’s offering a helping hand or sharing her famous backpack full of snacks, Adi exemplifies the warmth and spirit of the Frontier community.

Alexa Lopez joined the Frontier High School community in 11th grade, continuing a proud family legacy as the fifth sibling to attend FHS. From the moment she arrived, Alexa brought a positive spirit and a strong work ethic that quickly made her a valued member of the Rocket family.

She discovered a passion for automotive work through the CTE Auto Body program, where she enjoys getting hands-on with mechanical repairs and learning the inner workings of vehicles—a hobby she’s embraced wholeheartedly. Despite personal and family challenges, Alexa has remained focused on her goals and committed to building a bright future.

Fluent in English, Spanish, and Mixteco, Alexa is a proud trilingual student who supports others as a Wellness Peer in the Rocket Lounge. She’s often found painting in her free time and hopes to pursue a career in hairstyling after graduation.

Though she may be quiet at first, Alexa’s drive and determination shine through. She’s a true example of resilience, curiosity, and creativity at Frontier High School.

Brayan Hernandez has undergone an inspiring transformation. Once uncertain about his abilities, he has developed the confidence to articulate his goals and take initiative in the classroom and beyond.

During his time in the Film and Media class, Brayan began as a hesitant participant. However, as the class progressed, he embraced every opportunity to learn and experiment with enthusiasm. He quickly became a student eager to take on new challenges and demonstrated strong collaboration skills—even with peers he once struggled to connect with.

Brayan’s resilience and dedication have not gone unnoticed. He was recently named a recipient of the 2025 ACSA Region 13 Every Student Succeeding Award—an honor given to only 19 students statewide. As part of this recognition, Brayan and his family will travel to San Francisco in November, where he will be presented with the award and a $1,000 scholarship.

Brayan’s story is a testament to perseverance, compassion, and the transformative power of education. We are incredibly proud to celebrate him as a standout Rocket.

Lexie Jara joined Frontier High School during the fourth quarter of last year, arriving as a quiet and reserved student. She enrolled in the CTE Intro to Film and Media course, where she quickly demonstrated a natural talent for writing and a thoughtful approach to class discussions.

As the weeks progressed, Lexie began to find her voice—taking on more challenges and stepping into leadership roles. This school year, she advanced into the next level of Film and Media and immediately emerged as a classroom leader. She encouraged her peers, led group discussions, and served as the lead editor on class projects.

One of Lexie’s most impressive accomplishments was writing and completing her first original screenplay. Over February break, she brought her vision to life by organizing a student film team—along with Mr. Briggs—to film her script.

In addition to her creative achievements, Lexie has been an active member of ASB throughout the year and proudly leads the daily Pledge of Allegiance at Frontier. Her growth, leadership, and positive spirit have made her a standout student, and we’re proud to recognize her journey.
