Del Sol Students Recognition

Del Sol High School recognized three outstanding students at our board meeting: Mallory Hanson, Natalie Oropeza, and William Servin.

Sophomore Mallory Hanson embodies everything Del Sol. She is an exemplary student taking a very challenging course load who is always willing to work hard. She is a Jaguar cheerleader, and regularly attends athletic events, even when not assigned for cheer, just to support her classmates. Mallory does not just participate in her academic and athletic career, but takes a leadership position at Del Sol and has been an ASB officer for both years of attendance. She is also one of our dance captains for Dance Club. Mallory was our female Del Sol scholar athlete of the year last year, with an impressive 4.6 GPA. She is genuinely one of the nicest people you will ever meet, and very deserving of our recognition as an exemplary Jaguar.

Freshman Natalie Oropeza is an emerging leader on our Del Sol campus. She earned an impressive 4.43 GPA after one semester, and is touted as an exemplary student who works hard and is contentious. Natalie was named Most Outstanding Player on our Del Sol flag football team, as a freshman, and earned the same honor on our girls Junior Varsity soccer team, which went undefeated this year. Natalie also made the SoCal Player Development Program for soccer, which is an honor earned by less than 0.1% of scholar athletes who try out. We are very proud of Natalie and cannot wait to watch her grow over the next 3 and a half years.

Sophomore William Servin has made Del Sol history. Will has qualified for Varsity CIFSS wrestling championships! He became the first ever student athlete in the school's history to go to CIF. Last year Will joined our wrestling team as someone brand new to the sport, just like many of our Jaguars. Will worked extremely hard and became our team captain this year, he embraced the role and led our program in a historical direction. His goal of going Varsity and competing in CIF was set at the end of last season. In order to qualify for the freelance tournament, he had to wrestle a minimum of 20 Varsity matches which is very tough to do. Willie ended up going 8-12 and qualifying. Will wrestled at the CIFSS Central tournament at Westminster high school on Friday February 14-15. Will competed in the 106 pound weight class all year while weighing around 98-101 pounds. He also bumped up to the 113 pound weight class to wrestle varsity in a few matches. Will’s JV stats consists of winning 1st place trophies at six tournaments, 2 MVP trophy’s (MVP is voted by coaches at the tournaments) with a 17-0 record.
