Channel Islands High School recognized three outstanding students at our board meeting: Bertha Romero, Jayden Ursua, and Alecksa Llarenas.

Bertha Romero the fourth and youngest member of the Romero family to attend and thrive at Channel Islands High School (CIHS). Bertha is an inaugural member and second-year starter on CI’s flag football team. As a team captain this year, her attitude both on and off the field has played a significant role in her success as an athlete. On the field, she has proven to be a reliable target in crucial moments and one of the team leaders in receptions and tackles. Her strong work ethic and congeniality have made her a favorite among her teammates, as she contributes to creating a positive and motivating team environment. Bertha is also part of the Marine Science Academy (MSA), where her love for nature and interactions with her peers make her an invaluable asset. Her passion for the environment and hands-on learning have made her an active participant in MSA activities. As a scholar-athlete, Bertha maintains a UC/CSU GPA of 3.7, reflecting her dedication both in the classroom and on the field. She excels in rigorous courses such as AP Precalculus and AP Spanish Language and Culture, constantly challenging herself to reach new academic heights.

Jayden is not only an outstanding athlete but also a dedicated student, maintaining a UC/CSU GPA of 3.76 and a cumulative GPA of 4.0, while excelling in advanced courses such as Advanced Placement (AP) Precalculus and AP English Language and Composition. Jayden’s commitment extends beyond academics and athletics. His near-perfect attendance and steadfast dedication to all his endeavors showcase his reliability and work ethic. He is kind, considerate, and highly motivated, embodying the values we uphold at CIHS. Jayden's parents dedication has played a significant role in shaping him into the man he is today.

Alecksa Llarenas is a dedicated and accomplished student at CIHS, consistently demonstrating excellence in academics, leadership, and community involvement.
