March - Nutrition Services Newsletter
NATIONAL SCHOOL BREAKFAST WEEK
National School Breakfast week was March 3-7. During this week, we celebrate the importance of breakfast and fueling our students for success. Studies show that children who eat breakfast are more likely to achieve higher academic scores, maintain better concentration and be more alert throughout the day.
Students can enjoy one breakfast each school day, offered before school OR during Nutrition Break in the Cafeteria. We offer a variety of items, including Breakfast Sandwiches, Overnight Oats, Breakfast Plates and more!
MARCH IS NATIONAL NUTRITION MONTH
The theme for 2025 is “Food Connects Us”. Food brings people together. Healthy eating not only supports our health, but also strengthens our culture, communities and shared experiences.
We encourage students to try a new fruit or vegetable in the Cafeteria! We offer local produce from farmers just miles away from school. We are offering local radishes, blood oranges, mandarins, and Persian cucumbers.
Fruits and vegetables are offered each meal period during breakfast, lunch, & supper!
CRUNCHY HAWAIIAN WRAP IS BACK!
The students have spoken and we have listened! In our recent survey of students, we asked what they missed on the menu. The CRUNCHY HAWAIIAN WRAP is back every other Monday, starting in April. Students enjoy the fresh pineapple, spinach, broccoli & Ancho Chipotle Sauce.
HARVEST OF THE MONTH: BROCCOLI
Broccoli is a cruciferous vegetable that offers numerous benefits! Broccoli is packed with vitamin C, vitamin K, calcium, iron and potassium!
This month we are offering the Broccoli Crunch Side Salad, tossing broccoli with jicama, carrots, green onions & Asian Dressing.
HAWAIIAN PIZZA
We’re adding some freshness to Wednesday Pizza Day! Our newest option is a classic Hawaiian Pizza, served with fresh pineapple & ham!
