The Department of Interscholastic Athletics oversees all interscholastic athletic activities for the Oxnard Union High School District. While each school has their own athletic director to handle the on site day to day issues, the Director of Interscholastic Athletics serves as the OUHSD representative to the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) and National Federation of High School Sports (NFHS) in all compliance matters associated with high school athletics. The director also serves as PVL President.
The six comprehensive high schools within the OUHSD are members of the CIF Southern Section and of the Pacific View League (PVL). The department also oversees, schedules, and facilitates all governance of PVL play in twenty-two sports over three sport seasons and serves as the PVL representative for CIF-SS playoffs.
A secondary role of the director is working with the OUHSD department chairs in physical education; cheer advisors; activity directors and extra-curricular activities on campuses. Field trips, overnight trips, other school related travels, Summer Learn to Swim Programs and Facility Rentals also are handled through this department.
